ssd raid driveSATA RAID Bridge with NCQ and TRIM

The IntelliProp SATA RAID Bridge with NCQ (IPR-SARD300BR-M2) is a hardware design written in HDL that performs RAID 0 operations with NCQ, TRIM, and SMART support to provide higher performance access to disks.

The RAID Bridge is currently available in the Arria-II GX EP2AGX.  This product allows for processor firmware modification.

SATA RAID Bridge with NCQ and TRIM Overview
The IntelliProp RAID Bridge with NCQ can improve performance and increase the amount of storage by aggregating several SSD drives to one. To the PC, the IntelliProp RAID Bridge looks and acts like a single drive.

The IntelliProp RAID Bridge with NCQ introduces very little latency to issue commands and to transfer data between the PC and SATA storage devices.

The SATA RAID Bridge allows multiple SATA drives to be mapped into a single logical unit to provide one or more of the following characteristics:

  • RAID 0 striping
  • Increased storage capacity
  • Increased performance

Applications for the SATA RAID Bridge with NCQ and TRIM include:

  • SSD drive manufacturers with a need to build larger drives using smaller capacity drives
  • Applications requiring high bandwidth and IOPS
  • Applications requiring continued SMART monitoring
  • Host systems with High Performance requirements.

Features of SATA RAID Bridge with NCQ and TRIM:

  • NCQ command support.
  • DSM support – TRIM commands
  • SMART command support
  • Integrated CPU with modifiable software
  • Support for 1 to 8 drives
  • Supports 1.5, 3.0 and 6.0 GHz speed
  • Achieves scalable performance and capacity with number of drives
  • Supports RAID 0 or concatenation mode
  • Controllable stripe sizes from 512Bytes to 8kB
  • Power mode support (DIPM/HIPM)
  • Direct Drive control for field or vendor commands
